Browse profiles and message tutors

When you see a tutor profile that you like, you can send them a message by clicking the "Send Message" button on their profile page.

This is all done via our platforms own messaging service and you will receive an email notification when the tutor responds.

Our Price Promise

Unlike other tutor matching platforms, we don’t charge any commission on lessons, meaning we cannot be beaten in price. Most other sites will charge an additional 10-20% fee per lesson on top of a tutors normal rate, massively inflating the prices.

We won’t confine you to our websites own booking system or teaching platform; rather you are free to organise this with your tutor independently. 

Most of our tutors teach from popular, free online platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Skype. They will be familiar with their chosen platform so you can rest assured you will be guided through the entire lesson process.

The price tutors charge depends on a lot of factors, but experience in the job tends to be the biggest one. Here’s a rough estimate of what you can expect to pay based on teaching experience.

New tutors with less than 100 hours in-lesson experience., they are a great way to learn on a budget.

Most frequent questions and answers

The price of a lesson ultimately depends on what the tutor decides. However, most of them will charge between £10-£25 per hour. The majority of other sites start at the £20 mark and only go up from there, so we are confident you will find a good deal.

We are here to help you match with the perfect tutor, and from there you are free to organize lessons and payments as you please. Most tutors prefer to be paid via bank transfer or a third-party site, for example PayPal. They may request payment prior to the lesson as a pose to after it, and some may offer block bookings to save you the hassle of sending money over every single lesson. We would recommend you discuss payment methods and schedules before beginning lessons. We are happy to offer any advice, just fill out a form on our contact page.

We understand you and your tutor may not always click. For this reason, we encourage all our tutors to offer a free trial lesson to get to know each other a little before diving into the lessons. If, however, you have multiple lessons before deciding it isn’t working out, we would advise you to tell them you would like to stop at the earliest convenience. You don’t have to give them a reason for leaving if you do not feel comfortable doing so. We would encourage you to look again, our team is huge and we’re sure we can help you find someone you click with.

Currently Snowball Tutoring is exclusively online-based regarding the lesson type offered. We do not advertise tutors locations on their profiles for security reasons and therefore we do not encourage face to face lessons.

There is a range of online platforms that can be used for lessons; our personal favourites are Zoom and Microsoft Teams due to their reliability, accessibility on all devices and screen sharing ability. You and your tutor are free to choose whichever platform works best. All you need to get started is either a computer, laptop, tablet or even a mobile device as well as a reliable internet signal.

Whilst we appreciate online learning has its drawbacks, it also does come with a huge range of benefits including the convenience of being able to learn from the comfort of your own home, the flexibility to do lessons whenever and wherever you want, and for some students it can be less stressful as they don’t have  someone peering over their shoulder whilst they work. Even if you are apprehensive about online classes, we would really encourage you to at least give it a try!
